Machame Route is one of the most popular routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dubbed the “Whiskey” route, it is steeper and longer than the Marangu (Coca-Cola) Route, but offers greater acclimatization. Over the course of seven days, climbers traverse through lush rainforests, moorlands, and alpine deserts, experiencing some of the most spectacular views along the way. This route allows for a longer ascent, which aids in acclimatization, and offers an excellent chance of reaching Uhuru Peak at 5895m.
The Marangu route is the oldest and most well established trekking route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is referred to as the "Coca Cola” route and remains the most popular route today, although there is a variety of other routes by now. One reason is that it is the only one with overnights stays in permanent huts as opposes to sleeping in tents. This makes it more comfortable to some climbers.
Not technically a route, but is very direct and very steep. This is the most demanding and difficult route to the mountain. Although the number of people on this trail is very low, the chances of success are also low. 3 Days Unforgettable Mount Meru Climbing Itinerary is an often overlooked, but spectacular volcano located in the centre of Arusha National Park. At 14,980 feet high, Meru serves as a great warm-up to Mount Kilimanjaro or a complete standalone hike in it of itself. The crowds that can plague Kilimanjaro are non-existent here, allowing for a solitary, peaceful trek. Accommodations are in wood huts.
4 Days offers same views and experience as the 3 days trekking on Mount Meru, however, the last day is more demanding as you are doing the summit and descent to the gate at the same day.
